This family owned HVAC specialist business are seeking a qualified and experienced accountant to join our team on a 12-month maternity leave cover. The role is full time and offers flexible work arrangements for the right candidate. Your new role

  • Manage Accounts Payable team members, providing feedback, monitoring performance and ensuring team work productively together
  • Supervision of Accounts Payable Function ensuring creditors are paid as per payment schedule
  • Undertake periodic bank reconciliations for the company and its group companies
  • With the assistance of the CFO, prepare monthly and annual Financial Statements and Management accounts for the group, as directed, and the relevant variance reports
  • Liaise with company’s accountants to provide required information for the annual accounts’ preparation
  • Prepare overheads variance spreadsheet on monthly basis
  • Prepare and submit annual FBT spreadsheets to the company’s accountants for the company and its group companies operating in Australia
  • Prepare periodic business activity statement and GST returns for the company and its group companies
  • Quarterly submission of financial data as required by Australian Bureau of Statistics and NZ Statistics
  • Act as administrator of accounting software system
  • Act as lead for development, implementation and ongoing improvement of accounting software system and accounts payable procedures
  • Additional responsibilities delegated by the CFO from time to time

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Accounting Degree qualifications (essential)
  • Five years’ experience in a similar role (essential)
  • Membership of professional body (CA or CPA)
  • Highly developed Excel skills
  • Competency and experience in accounting software (SAGE or similar)
  • Competency and experience in project management software (Procore or similar)
  • Analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Professional with good self-awareness
  • Organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to negotiate outcomes with clients
  • Initiative and independence in performing role
  • Competency in working to budgets
  • Well-developed technology skills, particularly Microsoft Office
  • Well-developed writing skills
  • Positive approach to change
