Our clients are searching for a Feedlot All-rounder to join their family owned & operated feedlot, which is well positioned only a short distance out of Miles in the Western Downs Region of QLD.

With current expansions in place & due to finish early 2022, this feedlot is well equipped with new machinery & infrastructure. They proudly supply quality cattle to both domestic and export markets, with feeding programs ranging from 70 days through to 100 days or more.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is hard-working and motivated and is looking to grow their skills and knowledge in the cattle industry. This diverse role will see you be involved in all aspects of the day to day running of the feedlot. The role would include rostered weekend work across a 10-4 roster.

Young, energetic candidates with a positive attitude who are not necessarily skilled are also encouraged to apply & will be looked upon favourably.

Daily tasks can involve –

  • Pen Riding – either on horse or foot. Maximum of 3 horses. Paddocks are available for applicants with horses.
  • Cleaning and maintenance of stock water supplies.
  • Manual handling of animals in the feedlot. Experience with low stress stock handling and knowledge of animal welfare is an advantage and looked upon desirably.
  • Timely and effective receival of cattle (induction), including vaccinating, ear tagging, drenching, dehorning (tipping), bang tailing, weighing in accordance with relevant protocols & instructions.
  • Exiting cattle including diligence of animal types, completion of appropriate documentation and record keeping, weighing, scanning, and drafting.
  • Operate machinery for batching feeds, delivering rations to allocated pens, basic pre-starts & maintenance.
