The Customer Strategy and Technology team within Transport leads the development of long-term, multi-modal strategies, plans and policies across NSW. We leverage data and insights, implement new technologies, drive innovation and build partnerships to provide customer-centred solutions.? ?
Right now, we have an opportunity for an Automated Vehicle Policy Lead to join us in the Strategic Policy and National Reform Branch.
The role will undertake and provide relevant, accurate and timely research andpolicy analysis, on emerging trends to better understand, explore issues and scope opportunities in autonomous vehicles. It provides expertise and knowledge on strategic legislative reform to advise on and support of the branch’s business strategy and approaches.
What you will be involved in:?
- Manage and oversee the development of policy and legislation advice to support innovation in on-road trials of Autonomous Vehicles in NSW and the eventual commercial deployment of AVs across Australia.
- Develop Autonomous Vehicles policies and strategies in partnership with other Government agencies and stakeholders.
- Research, analyse and develop complex policy submissions, ministerial briefings, advice and recommendations to enable informed decision-making relating to AVs.
- Provide advice on issues by preparing reports, briefing papers, position papers, submissions and responses to Ministerial, political, stakeholder and community correspondence.
You will have demonstrated equivalent experience in and understanding of global autonomous vehicle trends and landscapes and how jurisdictions are applying this to the development of their policy and legislative frameworks. This will include the ability to produce strategic policy position papers as well as make and develop relationships with key stakeholders.
As an individual, you will have a policy background or relevant industry experience that will enable drive the strategic AV agenda in NSW. You have a great ability to influence senior stakeholders and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The salary for this position is TfNSW Grade 9 ($135,898-?$152,204) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
