Position Information

Northern Beaches Secondary College (NBSC) comprises five secondary schools with over 320 staff and around 4,000 students. The College has a strong commitment to the ethos of innovation, excellence and choice. The campus schools include:

Balgowlah Boys Campus (Boys’ comprehensive 7-12)

Cromer Campus (Co-educational comprehensive 7-12)

Freshwater Senior Campus (Co-educational comprehensive 11-12)

Mackellar Girls Campus (Girls’ comprehensive 7-12)

Manly Campus (Co-educational academically selective 7-12)

Every NBSC campus offers: gifted and talented extension classes, specialist facilities, extensive co-curricular activities, student leadership opportunities, excellent facilities and resources, highly qualified teaching staff and experienced school leadership teams. Senior students can access shared senior courses from all campuses. Students can tailor an individual senior curriculum that suits their particular needs by choosing from more than 100 HSC courses (including TAFE courses). The College bus provides transport between campuses. Many combined programs are offered including Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme, Jazz Improvisation Program and an extensive sports program. Other initiatives include: Design Make Innovate, Project Penguin, Science Techno Museum and Australian Business Week (ABW). The College has enjoyed success including; the National Award for Excellence in School Improvement and winner of the NSW Vocational Education in Schools Excellence Award. Students also feature in the Higher School Certificate Merit Lists. The position is located at the Freshwater Senior Campus.

  • Demonstrated high level and visible leadership for Northern Beaches Secondary College with exceptional communication skills and capacity to work with all stakeholders to build and advance a strong college identity.
  • Highly developed skills to support and collaborate with senior leadership to further strengthen meaningful partnerships with parents and the wider community.
  • General Selection Criteria

    1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

    2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

    3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

    4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

    5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

    6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department’s Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

    Conditions

    If you have not held a substantive principal position in a NSW PublicSchool at any time in the past five (5) years, you need to have completed theNSW Public School Leadership and Management Credential to be eligible to apply,and you will need to attach a copy of your provisional credential certificateor final credential certificate as part of your application.

    An unconditional full approval to teach is arequirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSWDepartment of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as youapply for this teaching opportunity.

    The principal classification for this College Principal position is Principal Level P5 for 2021.
