CommBank is recognised as leading the industry in IT and operations with its world-class platforms and processes, agile IT infrastructure, and innovation in everything from payments to internet banking and mobile apps Our practice is building automation solutions, specialising in controls instrumentation (controls as code) at infrastructure end points, as well as public cloud governance support of tenant applications.
The infrastructure service portfolio covers EMC, NetApp, and HP storage, as well as Windows, Linux, VMware, Midrange, and Mainframe server environments, with capabilities leveraged across all products in the portfolio (both BAU, and project). The Cloud automation portfolio covers instrumentation of detective and pipeline controls for tenant solutions (AWS, Azure).
Your contributions will help to embed software development and automation into the product lifecycle. You will write code to automate or develop new software as well as building native cloud storage and backup services, software defined infrastructure using the CBA SDLC.
The role aligns with the Technology pillar by transforming our existing services using world class technology, methods and architecture.

Services are meeting the ongoing technology requirements for customers, business, projects, and IT&T stakeholders

This role reports into the Controls and Infrastructure Automation Tower Practice Owner.
Your responsibilities
Infrastructure Software Development
Managing risk across a highly leveraged, diverse portfolio with both internal/external stakeholders
Researching, designing, implementing and managing software programs
Testing and evaluating new programs
Identifying areas for modification in existing programs and subsequently developing these modifications
Building interfaces to data and Building reports from those interfaces
Automating manual workflows
Maintaining and Troubleshooting existing software and systems
Introduce and integrate new technologies into infrastructure
Liaising with stakeholders
Create technical documentation related to system configuration and operation
Writing and implementing efficient code and determining operational practicality
Deploying software tools, processes and metrics
Maintaining and upgrading existing systems
Training users
Working closely with other developers, UX designers, business and systems analysts
Your skills and experience
Full stack development
Experience with automating end to end service lifecycles such as provisioning, decommissioning , configuration, self healing and reporting
Experience deploying and managing traditional storage and backup infrastructure (block, object, NAS)
Design thinking
Agile project delivery
Dev(Infra)Ops models
REST API integration with infrastructure services
Infrastructure as code
Hybrid cloud and cloud native development (AWS, Azure)
Your qualifications
Mandatory:
Engineering or IT Degree o SDLC and Agile delivery, as a member of a scrum team (at least 2 years)
Essential: Programming languages:
Python (at least 3 years commercial experience developing applications, not just scripting)
Domain expertise across infrastructure, compute, database, automation
Observability (logging, monitoring, metrics and visualisation):
Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, Cassandra, ELK, Mongo DB
Automation tools:
Ansible, Puppet, Chef o Toolchain: GitHub, TeamCity, Jenkins, Airflow, Docker
Highly regarded:
Ruby, Java, JavaScript, jQuery, Node.js, CodeKit, WebStorm, Django, Flask, CherryPy, Angular o Cloud solutions engineering (AWS, Azure)
