The purpose built facility houses a fantastic Health Precinct including Xray, Pathology, Pharmacy, Dental, Physio and Psychology! Free onsite parking for Doctors and a great café for coffee and lunch. Medical centre is a well-established Practice with mixed-billing, fully accredited with QPA and for GP training. Modern facilities with considerable patient base, nurse support, onsite Site Manager and excellent administration staff. Owned and operated by GPs for Patients and their family of Doctors and Staff. They value and support GPs encouraging special areas of interest.

Position Description

Clinical Medical Services:

  • Triage patients in the surgery and over the phone

  • Assessment and appropriate management of patients

  • Provide therapeutic care

  • Conduct tests

  • Perform procedures in line with practice policies (eg excisions, wound care, implants, cryotherapy)

  • Record appropriate contemporaneous notes

  • Provide Prescription and referral services as clinically required

  • Participate in and complete processes for the practice Recall and Reminder systems as documented in the Locum pack.

  • Participate in and complete Messages as per the practice messaging system as outlined in the Locum pack

  • Patient Services:

  • Network with other service providers to ensure ongoing care of patients by integrating service delivery, providing information and feedback between the services, patients and specialists.

  • Plan, manage and coordinate care of individual patients (including immunisations, ante/postnatal care, palliative care and preventive health activities)

  • Act as an advocate for patients

  • Refer annual health assessments, case conferences, care plans, medication reviews, asthma/diabetes/mental health plans and insurance medicals to usual doctor.

  • Provide nursing home care, home and hospital visits as required.

  • Provide appropriate after hours, palliative and emergency care.

  • Well Being:

  • Promote patient, carer and community well being through the provision of local and internal health information

  • Prevent Ill Health:

  • Enhance the management and prevention of ill health through health screening, immunisation, patient education

  • Optimise the use of professional resources for education, advice, referrals

  • Administration:

  • Ensure all recording and reporting meets current legal and accreditation requirements

  • Be familiar with billing procedures; align your billings to that of the Doctor for whom cover is being provided.

  • Provide medical backup for doctors on holidays or sick leave as per the Buddy System – as per the Doctor for whom you are providing cover

  • Training and Development:

  • Attend lectures, seminars and educational activities to meet ongoing medical educational requirements. (QA&CME, NPS activities)

  • Provide education and on-the-job training to medical students and GP registrars.

  • Involvement in medical trials and practice audits if requested

  • Quality:

  • Understand and work toward the Ethos that underpins Practice Culture – refer to the What is our Culture document.

  • Understand, implement and continually evaluate quality principles to maintain and achieve accreditation standards

  • Monitor and review procedures, systems and records to meet current practice

  • Ensure work practices and processes are carried out as instructed and in accordance with duty of care, patient’s needs practice policies and quality

  • Maintain an environment that demonstrates continuous improvement, responsibility and accountability

  • Ensure quality issues are notified to Clinical Lead as soon as practicable

  • Adopt quality customer service practices (eg responding to requests efficiently)

  • Workplace Health and Safety:

  • Perform manual handling in accordance with the ‘Code of practice for manual handling” in accordance with the Division of Workplace Health and safety

  • Adhere to safe work practices and use safety equipment when appropriate

  • Manage the clinical environment so that it promotes safety, security and optimal health

  • Minimise infection by having a clean work environment, appropriate solutions and sterilising process, correct disposal of contaminated waste and sharps with appropriate record keeping.

  • Report incidences and hazards to the principals using designated procedures

  • Maintain the work equipment in a clean, safe manner with maintenance requirements lodged.

  • Understand and comply with OH&S Act

  • Document and follow through OH&S issues

  • Maintenance of staff knowledge of OH&S Act.
