About the business

A leader in their market segment, our client is a renowned producer of Australia’s finest gourmet baby leaf salad mixes not only in Australia but also throughout the world. Now entering an exciting phase of growth, they are looking for an experienced GM of operations to join their team.

About the role

Reporting to the CEO, this high calibre individual will be responsible for improving performance, productivity and efficiency, to ensure that all operations are both cost and time effective whilst aligning with quality and safety requirements.

This role will oversee production, operations, engineering, quality and safety and provide both strategic and operational input and analysis for this multi-site business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing effective leadership and articulating the vision for operations, quality and engineering.
  • “Hands on” day to day management of the operation, providing both strategic and operational input and analysis for this multi-site business.
  • Strong process improvement focus ensuring the manufacturing facility operates at peak efficiency, allowing maximum sustainable profitability, whilst maintaining all quality and safety requirements.
  • Establish and develop effective working relationships with stakeholders, organisations to maintain and improve the company’s image and commercial position.
  • Ensure the development, implementation and direction of best manufacturing practices for the manufacturing site.
  • Manage site operation costs and budgets to ensure value and benefit to the business.
  • Develop the overall leadership and technical skills of the operations team.

Skills and experience

  • Degree qualified in manufacturing, engineering or related field with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in FMCG/food manufacturing environment working as operations or manufacturing manager, ideally with cold store/short shelf-life products.
  • Able to deliver and communicate a clear vision of the future and relentlessly drive systematic change in a multi-site environment.
  • Highly developed skills in leadership, communication (written & verbal), negotiation, influencing and execution.
  • Proven successes with building/maintaining excellent relationships with key stakeholders
  • Passionate, enthusiastic with a “can-do” attitude.
  • Ability to remain resilient, calm and composed when under pressure.
  • Ability to engage and influence others.
