Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an Group Program Coordinator on a contract until for 12 months, with potential extension.

Position Overview

The Group Program Coordinator is responsible for the planning and delivery of the region’s group program schedule. The Group Program Coordinator is part of a Clinical Team co-ordinating services for clients who may be facing significant or complex challenges. The Group Program Coordinator takes a proactive approach in working alongside Group Program Facilitators and Trainers, to form a partnership that supports the integration of treatment group programs as part of the treatment focus for clients who will be linked to various other treatment activities.

The role involves group program planning & coordination for the Region; stakeholder engagement and marketing; recruitment and on boarding of facilitators and trainers; group intake, screening and reporting; quality control of service delivery; and oversight of financial tasks. Groups and training are provided on a demand-driven basis, requiring flexibility and responsiveness in service delivery.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Clinical service delivery of approved Open Arms group Programs and Psycho education workshops including;

  • Regional management of waiting lists for groups.
  • Coordination of group program client related activities including assessment screening, program delivery, client support, risk management, evaluation, and follow up with counsellors post group.
  • Contribute to group program delivery as a facilitator of treatment groups or trainer for Psycho education workshops
  • Coordinate administrative aspects of group programs and psycho education workshops.
  • Contribute to the evaluation of group programs
  • Participate in national policy development, initiatives and continuous quality improvement.
  • Liaising and forming partnerships with client and other government departments, ex-service organisations, community health and welfare agencies, and all other organisations involved in meeting the identified needs of veteran and defence force communities and families.
  • Participation in and contribution to ongoing learning and development activities and maintenance of professional status.
  • Participation in community development and service promotion activities.
  • Participation in Open Arms program evaluation and research activities, contributing to project management activities that implement strategic directions and quality improvement recommendations, and provide feedback for ongoing development of clinical policies and procedures.
  • Applying the principles of cooperative and safe working practices consistent with APS Values and the Department’s mission, vision, approach and values.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Qualifications must be that of an accredited health profession or social worker.
  • Qualified health professionals must have current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency (AHPRA).
  • Social workers must be registered with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • Preference is for mental health professionals including Clinical Psychologists, Psychologists, Mental Health Social Workers or Mental Health Occupational Therapists.
  • Working with Children (WWC) and/or Vulnerable People Checks/Clearance must be obtained prior to commencement.
  • Health professionals and social workers must have extensive clinical and relevant management experience.
  • A current drivers licence
  • Prepared to travel to regional areas and stay overnight as required
