Where you will be working

Leeton Health Service is a 71 bed Hospital, made up of 25 acute beds, 4 maternity beds and 38 residential aged care beds.

The facility provides emergency, medical, palliative, obstetric, radiology and aged care services. A range of outpatient and community health services are also provided on the hospital grounds.

Leeton is a thriving regional community approximately 6 hours drive west of Sydney in the heart of the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area (MIA). The MIA is one of the most productive and diverse agricultural regions in the country and plays an important role in feeding many Australians.

Leeton shire is home to approximately 11,000 residents who have access to range of high quality education, sporting and community facilities. About The Opportunity

The Nursing Unit Manager (NUM) is in-charge of all aspects of the unit environment and takes overall responsibility for the standard of patient care in the unit. The NUM is pivotal to the coordination of patient care, unit management and leadership to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care and efficient use of resources.

  • Liaison with all health care disciplines for the provision of services to meet patient needs; the orchestration of services to meet patient needs after discharge; monitoring catering and transport services.
  • Implementation of hospital/health service policy: dissemination of information to all personnel; ensuring environmental safety; monitoring the use and maintenance of equipment; monitoring the supply and use of stock and supplies; monitoring cleaning services.
  • Direction, co-ordination and supervision of midwifery/ nursing activities; training, appraisal and counselling of midwives and nurses; rostering and/or allocation of midwifery/nursing staff; Development and/or implementation of new midwifery and nursing practice according to patient need.
