We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Quality Manager to join our project core team and help deliver the next generation of X’Trapolis trains for Melbourne. In this role, you will take responsibility for coordination of all Quality and Safety Assurance activities across the whole project. This will include working with other team members to ensure all Quality, Cost and Delivery (QCD) commitments are met. This role can initially be based in Melbourne however long term the position will be based in Ballarat where production of the new trains is expected to commence in the 2nd half of 2022.

Key Responsibilities for This Role Include:

  • Be the key interface with the customer quality and safety teams.
  • Ensure project quality plan application and execution, supporting the project teams to prepare Gate reviews and follow-up and close out action items.
  • Control project deliverables compliance through inspection and audits in order to authorise presentation/delivery to the customer.
  • Manage and report quality indicators and safety alerts for projects.
  • Review and approve project safety cases prior to presentation to Independent Safety Assessor.
  • Manage quality non-conformances and ensure they are driven to conclusion.
  • Measure and seek solutions for improvement of project quality performance.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required Includes:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (ideally within engineering).
  • Previous experience working in a quality role, ideally in a rail manufacturing environment (or similar)
  • ISO9001 Auditor Certification
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to adapt your communication to the audience
  • Rigour and discipline, resilience and the ability to say ‘no’
  • Ability to drive a quality function forward!
