The Division

The Customer Strategy & Technology division is focused on creating the future of mobility in NSW, and shaping a world-leading transport system for our customers and communities.

The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for 2 Senior Transport Planners to join us in the Corridor Identification and Protection Team within the Customer Strategy and Technology division. In these highly crucial roles, you would be responsible to work collaboratively across the transport portfolio, other government departments and agencies (e.g. NSW Treasury, Department of Planning, Industry and Environment, Department of Premier & Cabinet, Department of Regional NSW, Infrastructure NSW, Greater Sydney Commission, Local Government, Commonwealth and other State Transport organisations, public and private sector Transport organisations, public and private sector transport providers, community interest groups), Regional Partnerships, local government and key stakeholders to advance integrated land use and transport strategic planning in the state

In this role, you would ensure that all the activities are carried out ensuring that users are at the centre of planning and that strategic planning is done in an integrated manner across all modes and with land use planning

What you will be involved in

If successful, you would support effective and efficient functioning of the team by performing the following duties, but not limited to :

  • Live the NSW Public Sector and organisational values to achieve outstanding outcomes for the organisation and customers.
  • Continually support the innovation and embracing of new procedures, processes and technologies
  • Work across multi-disciplinary, matrixed teams delivering - Long-term, state-wide strategic planning, Place-based planning within a specific geographical area, integrated network planning, Corridor preservation and other major projects
  • Investigate and recommend transport solutions for urban renewal areas, growth areas and activity centers
  • Identify and recommend how transport networks, infrastructure and policy can support sustainable travel and support liveability
  • Ensuring that strategic plans are supporting protection of our assets, operations and network

About you

You are an experienced Transport planning professional with proven ability to establish and maintain excellent communication and positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes strategic business objectives. Superior written and oral communication skills including proven ability to communicate tactfully and effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, including sensitivity in dealing with community and political issues.

Ability to think at the big picture level; entertain wide-ranging possibilities in developing a vision for the future whilst incorporating strategic direction into day-to-day activities is an absolute essential. A solid experience in analysing and interpreting regulations, policy and guidance for ongoing organizational compliance and in response to specific inquiries posed by business partners are an essential. You would have detailed knowledge and experience in the operation of planning proposals and development applications with demonstrated ability to process, interpret and analyse data. You are be a collaborator by nature with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders using strong negotiation and interpersonal skills. You will also need a strong understanding of integrated land use and transport planning issues and transport forecasting processes.

You will have relevant tertiary qualifications such as civil / environmental engineering, environmental planning, transport planning, urban design, or geography with significant demonstrable experience related to the responsibilities of the role.

Salary and Benefits

Transport Grade 8 (118,015- 132,176) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading
