We are seeking an enthusiastic and capable Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist to join our committed team to provide quality obstetric and gynaecological services to a diverse and appreciative community in a highly desirable coastal location.

About our department:

  • 2 x Staff Specialists and 1 x Visiting Medical Officer, commitment to build a sustainable workforce to meet current and future needs.
  • Busy birthing suite (over 700 deliveries p.a.) and outpatient clinics (including ANC, Gynaecology, high risk obstetric and colposcopy).
  • Surgical services including minimally invasive, open and laparoscopic surgery.
  • JMO support(accredited registrar +/- Rural Generalists; SRMO, RMO).
  • Links to an established Department of Paediatrics with Special care nursery.
  • Great team of committed and supportive anaesthetic colleagues.
  • Close relationship with the University of Newcastle Department of Rural Health with teaching to students in Year 3-5 of the Joint Medical Program. Appointment as a conjoint academic is encouraged (level commensurate with qualifications and experience).

  • A primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG), and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
  • Evidence of being a medical expert, demonstrated by recent and comprehensive experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
  • Evidence of being a scholar, maintains medical professional development and has the ability to assist other staff, including trainees in the acquisition and development of knowledge.
  • Evidence of being a skilled communicator, including both oral and written skills, communicating with patients, students, other health professionals and the public.
  • Evidence of being a collaborator, including the ability to network and operate within an interdisciplinary framework and to work with other stakeholders in a variety of settings.
  • Evidence of being a manager, including ability to be flexible and cope with a changing health system, past leadership and management experience and previous safety and quality improvement activities.
